The Harpursville Hornets had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walton on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Harpursville in their matchups with Walton: they've now lost nine in a row.
Walton found their leader in underclassman Grace Walley, who scored 20 points along with 7 steals. The match was Walley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alivia Conklin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Harpursville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Walton, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harpursville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bainbridge-Guilford at 7:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Walton, they will head out on the road to face off against Greene at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
