College Park has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the San Rafael Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, College Park was able to grind out a solid victory over Fremont, taking the game 58-46. The win was all the more spectacular given College Park's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1020th, while Fremont is ranked 410th).
College Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Wray, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Wray hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos O'Connell, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but San Rafael had to settle for a 60-58 defeat against Archie Williams on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that San Rafael has lost by exactly two points.
College Park's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for San Rafael, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
College Park took their win against San Rafael in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 67-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for College Park since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
