On Monday, the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders faced the Kingston Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Monroe-Woodbury took a hard 70-52 fall against the Tigers. If Monroe-Woodbury was looking for revenge after losing 54-46 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Monroe-Woodbury's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Pearson, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jankarlos Mendoza, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Monroe-Woodbury's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Kingston, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Monroe-Woodbury will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Our Lady of Lourdes has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three contests. As for Kingston, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bushmen at 6:30 p.m. Pine Bush will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 480th, while the Tigers are ranked 24th).
