This season hasn't been kind to The Cross Episcopal Stingrays, who are still winless after their 11th game. They were dealt a 62-6 defeat at the hands of Providence Athletic Cluv on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Cross Episcopal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Providence Athletic Cluv is ranked third).
Providence Athletic Cluv's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jance Lamb, who rushed for 125 yards on only 15 carries, and also threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Conner Essig, who gained 150 total yards and three touchdowns.
Cross Episcopal's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.1 points per game. As for Providence Athletic Cluv, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Cross Episcopal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Providence Athletic Cluv also has no future games currently scheduled.
