The Palmview Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Donna Redskins at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday. Palmview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Palmview came out on top against McAllen on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Lobos blew past the Bulldogs 9-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Javier Garza made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Palmview got a big performance out of Joseph Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jaden Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Palmview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .541 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Donna). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over Economedes on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Redskins considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Ethan Sanchez was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Domingo Sierra, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Palmview pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Donna, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Donna struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmview beat Donna 5-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2020. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
