The Mercy Jaguars were the 57-54 winner over the Mercer County Titans when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Mercy took a 46-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercer County on Tuesday.
Mercer County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Drakeford led the charge by scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Mercy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mercer County, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercy will take on Lexington Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mercer County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Taylor County at 6:30 p.m.
