Basketball Recap: Green Hope's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

If Green Hope was feeling good fresh off their 56-33 takedown of Lee County last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Green Hope Falcons took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panther Creek Catamounts on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (56), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Green Hope still got an impressive performance from Abigail Brown, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and 19 rebounds. That was a full 63.2% of Green Hope's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Shawn Sisk was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Green Hope smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Panther Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wynne Kinahan, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Kinahan is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Bennah, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points along with seven boards and five assists.

With the loss, Green Hope broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4. As for Panther Creek, their record is now 5-6.

Green Hope will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Apex at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Green Hope is facing Apex at the right time seeing as Apex is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Panther Creek, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-53 victory against Apex Friendship on the 15th.
