The Kossuth Aggies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-48 walloping at the hands of Belmont. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kossuth of the 49-47 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
Belmont found their leader in underclassman Khalil Luster, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Luster hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ty Ramsey, who scored eight points.
Kossuth has not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Belmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Kossuth and Booneville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing is sure in Booneville's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while Kossuth has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Belmont will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Tishomingo County at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ramsey and Ayden Mcdeavitt.
