Despite the loss, East Chapel Hill still got an impressive performance from Abigail Stone, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 41.8% of East Chapel Hill's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Steiner, who scored 14 points along with three blocks.
Chapel Hill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Scarlett Gilner out in front who scored 17 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Gilner scored 15 or more points. Eva Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
East Chapel Hill's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Chapel Hill, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Chapel Hill will take on the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Durham Academy is ranked 306th, while the Wildcats are ranked 281st). Chapel Hill's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Jordan is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Tigers a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
