It was a good run, but the New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-48 loss to Sleepy Eye. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Ulm Cathedral has scored all season.
New Ulm Cathedral lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jevan Wilfahrt, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Wilfahrt is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Miller, who scored 16 points.
New Ulm Cathedral's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Sleepy Eye, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Ulm Cathedral's road trip will continue as they head out to face Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. One thing working in Springfield's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Sleepy Eye, they will head out on the road to face off against Cedar Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Mountain will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
