Two dominant signal callers in Michael Gonzalez and Andrew Evangelista are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The South Gate Rams will square off against the Lincoln Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Gate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 38 points per game this season.
South Gate's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on South East with a sharp 26-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Gate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicholas Quintanilla, who picked up 111 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Another pass catcher making a difference was Nicholas Fonseca, who picked up 72 receiving yards and one TD.
South Gate didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Johnny Williams was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lincoln duked it out with Franklin on Thursday. The Tigers lost 57-35 to the Panthers. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Evangelista and Albert Cardenas. Cardenas had a great game and rushed for 41 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Evangelista did his best for the losing side, throwing for 151 yards and a pair of TDs.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for South Gate, their record is now an identical 7-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. South Gate has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 356.4 total yards per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 350.7 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
South Gate didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
