Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, East Union should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They will square off against Manteca at 7:00 PM. After the teams both made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.
After constant struggles on the road, East Union have finally found some success away from home. They put a hurting on Weston Ranch to the tune of 48-12. Senior Raylen Carter was the offensive standout of the match for East Union, as he rushed for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Carter's 83-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, Manteca brought a three-game winning streak into their matchup against Sierra last Friday; they left with a four-game streak. Manteca took the game and then some with a 50-7 victory over Sierra. Followers of Manteca probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected five blowout victories.
Their wins bumped Manteca to 6-3 and East Union to 3-6. After the lofty point totals in their previous games, we'll see if they're able to heat things up even more while facing each other.
