The Liberty Christian Lions will be playing at home against the Winchester Community Golden Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Liberty Christian posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They blew past Muncie Burris 63-37. Given Liberty Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Muncie Burris is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty Christian relied on the efforts of Kendrick Martin, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals, and A'Marien Page, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Martin hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerramie Johnson, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Winchester Community was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 64-59 to Blackford.
Liberty Christian pushed their record up to 9-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Winchester Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Liberty Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Winchester Community in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 71-65 victory. Does Liberty Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winchester Community turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
