The Venus Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-25 loss at the hands of Alvarado. While losing is never fun, Venus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1087th, while Alvarado is ranked 441st).
Leading Alvarado to victory were Joslyn Jarmon and Candra Bridgewater. Jarmon dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals, while Bridgewater scored 25 points along with seven steals. Jarmon hasn't dropped below two steals for 22 straight games. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Cross, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Venus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-21 record this season. As for Alvarado, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-14.
Venus will be playing in front of their home fans against Life Waxahachie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Life Waxahachie is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Alvarado, they will head out on the road to take on Hillsboro at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hillsboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday.
