Rivera is 9-0 against Weslaco since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rivera Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Weslaco Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Rivera is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Rivera put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past San Benito 7-0.
Meanwhile, Weslaco fell victim to Los Fresnos' stalwart defense on Tuesday and couldn't make it onto the board. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 11-0 walloping at the hands of the Falcons. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Weslaco in their matchups with Los Fresnos: they've now lost seven in a row.
Rivera's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those five matchups. As for Weslaco, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2-1.
Rivera took their victory against Weslaco when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 8-1. Will Rivera repeat their success, or does Weslaco have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
