The Harker Heights Knights will square off against the Horn Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harker Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Harker Heights managed to slip by Temple the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights came up short against the Wildcats on Thursday, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Wildcats since March 11, 2022.
Isabell Zamora was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Je'Neiya Russell-Dukes, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Horn waltzed into their contest on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Zoie Armstrong, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Uribe, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Horn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Horn pushed their record up to 21-9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Harker Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Harker Heights has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Horn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
