Bellevue East won against Omaha Northwest last Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Chieftains blew past the Benson Bunnies 14-2. The Chieftains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Hank Cloyd made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cloyd was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Bellevue East let Steven Thiede and Cayden Hansen run wild. Thiede went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Hansen scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most hits Thiede has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Connor Dolezal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Bellevue East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bellevue East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
