Ellison is 0-6 against Walther Christian Academy since September of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lions will square off against the Broncos at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Ellison didn't have quite enough to beat Providence-St. Mel and fell 2-1. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 25-20 in the first set.
Ellison started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-18, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Walther Christian Academy waltzed into their match on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against Southland College Prep by a score of 2-0.
Walther Christian Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Southland College Prep between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16.
Ellison better keep an eye on Isabella Rosado. She was instrumental in Walther Christian Academy's win, getting eight assists and four aces. That's the most aces Rosado has posted since back in August.
Walther Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 14 aces in seven consecutive matchups.
Ellison's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Walther Christian Academy, their record now sits at 17-5.
Ellison couldn't quite get it done against Walther Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
