Brad Marrero was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times French Camp Academy and Lumberton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. French Camp Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lumberton 8-6. French Camp Academy hasn't had any issues with Lumberton recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Benjamin Wright was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Wright wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Bain, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
French Camp Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Sacred Heart pushed their record up to 24-7 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for French Camp Academy, their record is now 19-8.
Both Sacred Heart and French Camp Academy just can't seem to miss. The Crusaders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like French Camp Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Sacred Heart's way against French Camp Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, as Sacred Heart made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
