The Huntington Beach Oilers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Corona del Mar, falling 87-52. While losing is never fun, Huntington Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Corona del Mar is ranked 60th).
Logan Barker and Oliver Nakra certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Barker scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Nakra scored 12 points. Kai Labistre was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Huntington Beach's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Corona del Mar, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Huntington Beach will head out on the road to challenge Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Corona del Mar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laguna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laguna Beach is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
