The Otis Bulldogs's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They secured a 38-34 W over Arickaree. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Otis also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Otis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lydia Willeke, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Willeke pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Willeke, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Arickaree's loss came despite strong showings from RAEYA SCHROCK and JANIYA SMITH. SCHROCK scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while SMITH scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of JULISA QUINTEROS, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Arickaree struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Otis racked up 11 assists.
Otis' victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Arickaree, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Otis won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Hi-Plains is ranked 157th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 174th). As for Arickaree, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
