Basketball Recap: Bristow Falls Despite Big Games from Brian Hopgood. Jr. and Tayt Jackson

Bristow lost against Okemah back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bristow Pirates fell 74-64 to the Okemah Panthers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Bristow's loss came despite strong showings from Tayt Jackson and Brian Hopgood. Jr.. Jackson went 10 of 15 on his way to 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Hopgood. Jr. went 8 for 17 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds. Jackson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Williams, who posted ten points.

Bristow now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Okemah, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Bristow will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Perkins-Tryon at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bristow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season. As for Okemah, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Okemah Panthers take on the Oktaha Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Okemah knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Oktaha likes a good challenge.
