The Vincennes Lincoln Alices will take on the North Posey Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vincennes Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
Vincennes Lincoln is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Evansville Bosse with a sharp 18-2 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Alices in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Justice Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. That hit was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Luke Hall was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was William Burgess, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Vincennes Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, North Posey was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Heritage Hills.
Like Vincennes Lincoln, North Posey also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Mansfield. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, Mansfield posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dylan Murphy was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Brennan Butcher was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Vincennes Lincoln's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for North Posey, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Vincennes Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .445. However, it's not like North Posey struggles in that department as they've averaged .312. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vincennes Lincoln suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to North Posey when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Alices have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
