It was a good run, but the Smithville Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 41-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chillicothe. Smithville has struggled against the Hornets recently, as their match on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Chillicothe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayanna Cranmer, who scored 15 points. Liz Oliver was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Smithville's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3. As for Chillicothe, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will face off against the Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winnetonka will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Warriors are ranked 17th). As for Chillicothe, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
