Even though the Olympic Heights Lions scored an imposing 72 points on Monday, the Morningside Academy Eagles still came out on top. Morningside Academy escaped with a win against Olympic Heights by the margin of a single free throw, 73-72.
Damon Folds was his usual excellent self, scoring 37 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Clifford, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Morningside Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Olympic Heights, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morningside Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Melbourne Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Melbourne Central Catholic will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Olympic Heights, they will head out on the road to take on Spanish River at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
