Softball Recap: Calexico Takes a Loss

Calexico extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-5. They came up short against the Madison Warhawks, falling 15-5. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Madison, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 7-2-1 record this season. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Madison's part, they let Hanna Rosas (2027) and Aryana Burnett (2029) run wild. Rosas (2027) went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Burnett (2029) went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Alley (2026), who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Calexico is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Yuma Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Shamrocks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Madison, they will challenge Mission Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
