The Nedrose Cardinals lost against the Westhope/Newburg Sioux back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Nedrose was beaten by Westhope/Newburg 83-48. Nedrose was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.
Westhope/Newburg was led to victory by Hunter Tolstad and Walker Braaten. Tolstad dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Braaten scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Braaten has scored at least 25% of Westhope/Newburg's points. Another player making a difference was Braden Bailey, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Nedrose's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. As for Westhope/Newburg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Nedrose will head out on the road to face off against Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Westhope/Newburg will be home for the holidays to greet Turtle Mountain at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
