The Petaluma Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Vintage Crushers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Petaluma 3, Vintage 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Petaluma is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Justin-Siena with a sharp 19-2 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Taylor Cook looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Wilson was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Harper Miles also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Petaluma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Vintage waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 4-1.
Angie Rubalcava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on zero hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Vintage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Morton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Aliyah McDonald was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.
Petaluma has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Vintage, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Petaluma has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vintage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Petaluma came out on top in a nail-biter against Vintage when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
