The Gillespie Miners suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-42 loss at the hands of Roxana. Gillespie has not had much luck with Roxana recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Chris Walleck was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with four steals for Roxana. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Briggs, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Gillespie has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Roxana, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Gillespie will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenville will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Roxana, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Lebanon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three contests.
