After a string of three wins, the Riesel Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Marlin at home by a decisive 47-33 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Riesel in their matchups with Marlin: they've now lost nine in a row.
It was another big night for Kya Mitchell, who scored 19 points along with five steals for Marlin. Mitchell hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaria Johnson, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Riesel's defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Marlin, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Riesel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dawson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marlin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hubbard at 6:15 p.m. Hubbard is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
