The Dickson County Cougars will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Northeast Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Dickson County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Dickson County has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They beat Kenwood by the very same score they won with last week: 49-38.
Dickson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keely Webb, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Webb has scored at least a third of Dickson County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Saine, who scored 12 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Northeast had to suffer through a rough 61-32 loss at the hands of Northwest. Northeast was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.
Northeast's defeat came about despite a quality game from Qimara Summers, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Dickson County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-19. As for Northeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Dickson County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northeast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Dickson County against Northeast in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 90-18 victory. With Dickson County ahead 46-9 at the half, the game was all but over already.
