Rock Island has gone 9-1 against Quincy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rocks will welcome the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Neither Rock Island nor Quincy posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Rock Island took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Biggsville West Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rocks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Heat a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Rocks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Not much got past Maddie Carroll, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Biggsville West Central off the board. Carroll has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Rock Island's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Franks, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave Franks a new career-high.
Meanwhile, while it was Quincy who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Quincy Notre Dame who put up more. The Blue Devils fell 6-2 to the Raiders. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carlee Gilker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Ivy Winter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Quincy's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Rock Island, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Quincy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rock Island has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Quincy, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Rock Island's sizable advantage in that area, the Blue Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
