The Hastings Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norris. While losing is never fun, Hastings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Norris is ranked second).
Norris got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Greenfield out in front who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Greenfield is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Garner Jr., who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Hastings' defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Norris, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hastings will face off against Bennington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bennington is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.5 points per game. Norris on the road again on Tuesday and play against Beatrice at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th.
