Amite has gone 7-2 against Mandeville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kayla Toefield, who posted 14 points along with eight assists and four steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamaya Walker, who put up eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
Toefield wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Amite was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Mandeville blew past St. Thomas Aquinas, posting a 71-36 victory. The Skippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Amite better keep an eye on Alanna Benoit. She was instrumental in Mandeville's win, dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Taylor Galiano, who went 5 for 6 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.
Mandeville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Amite, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Amite came up short against Mandeville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 66-54. Can Amite avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
