Belton entered their tilt with Wimberley on Monday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They rang in the new year with an 83-76 victory over the Wimberley Texans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-56 last Saturday.

When it comes to explaining why Wimberley lost, don't look at Paul Gumbert-Mendoza. Despite the final result, he posted 26 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Gumbert-Mendoza has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryson Anderson, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points.

Belton pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Wimberley, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
