The South View Tigers and the Gray's Creek Bears will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South View knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Gray's Creek likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, South View gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They blew past Purnell Swett 71-49. Given South View's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Purnell Swett is ranked 551st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Demarcus Spearman was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Farrior, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Gray's Creek, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-49 loss to Lumberton on Wednesday. Gray's Creek has struggled against Lumberton recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
South View's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9. As for Gray's Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
South View came up short against Gray's Creek in their previous meeting back in January, falling 50-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gray's Creek's Zeek Reed, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Now that South View knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
