The Highland Trojans entered their tilt with the Whiting Oilers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Highland snuck past Whiting with a 63-57 victory on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kristijan Zekavica, who scored 14 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kurtlin Hayes, who scored 15 points.
Whiting's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shawn Donaldson, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Yovanni Garro, who scored 12 points.
Highland's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Whiting, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Highland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Newton at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. North Newton is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Whiting, they will head out on the road to face off against Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Calumet New Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
