The Central Academy Cougars will face off against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
While Central Academy's win against Anson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Central Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Anson on Thursday, sneaking past 10-9. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Addison Crawford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Kieryn Peters and Siena Crawford did most of the damage at the plate: Peters scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4, while Siena went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave Crawford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Easterly, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.
Central Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Cuthbertson faced Weddington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Cuthbertson took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weddington. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Cavaliers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Georgia McConnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Alexis Juhl was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Central Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Cuthbertson, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Central Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .522. However, it's not like Cuthbertson struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Academy couldn't quite finish off Cuthbertson in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 7-5. Can Central Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
