D1 District 8 (8 Man) recap October 1, 2013
Chett Hinton of Twin Loup ran for the longest rushing play in D1 District 8 (8 Man) this season against Palmer last week. Hinton ran for 71 yards on the play and finished with 143 on the day as his team topped the Tigers.
Twin Loup added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Palmer, 29-19. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
The Wolves' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jack Gibbens threw for 73 yards and Dexter Griebel had 33 yards receiving. On the ground Hinton contributed 143 yards. Brayden Davis helped Twin Loup's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 24 yards.
Hinton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Twin Loup beat Nathan Glause's team. Hinton's key target this week was Griebel, who caught 4 passes for 33 yards.
Hinton was the most successful running back in the league this week. Gibbens also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
The Wolves' Gibbens and Griebel have formed a dream team this season, leading D1 District 8 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Gibbens has thrown for 747 yards this season, while Griebel, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 14 catches for 357 yards. Colter Glendy from South Loup leads the league in rushing with 567 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Loup City takes on the Tigers. The Red Raiders are in fourth place, while Palmer is in second place.
South Loup took down Loup City 43-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Glendy threw for 23 yards and ran for 89 yards in the win.
