Luverne has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. The Luverne Tigers and the Georgiana Panthers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Friday, Luverne came up short against Shields and fell 60-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Luverne came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Shields is ranked 248th).
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Georgiana's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 63-44 bruising from Enterprise. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Georgiana has scored all season.
Luverne's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Georgiana, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.
Luverne won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January, slipping by Georgiana 53-52. Does Luverne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Georgiana turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
