Basketball Recap: Southwest Atlanta Christian Takes a Loss

Southwest Atlanta Christian was the 71-67 winner over Towers when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the Southwest Atlanta Christian Warriors and the Towers Titans didn't end well, with the Southwest Atlanta Christian Warriors falling 53-37. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Titans are ranked 179th).

When it comes to explaining why Southwest Atlanta Christian lost on Thursday, don't look at Jabari Burleson. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. Southwest Atlanta Christian is 4-2 when Burleson posts five or more steals, but 4-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Wiggins, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Towers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jalen Kelly, who scored 19 points along with eight boards and four steals. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Domyius Mcfarland, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Southwest Atlanta Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Towers, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Southwest Atlanta Christian has already played their next game, a 78-33 win against Utopian Academy for the Arts on the 7th. Towers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
