The St. Clair County Fighting Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Etowah Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Clair County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
St. Clair County barely beat Southside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fighting Saints were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Panthers on Thursday. Considering the Fighting Saints have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Carleigh Butts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vylet Byers was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen Garner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Etowah never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sardis on Thursday. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 11-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Blue Devils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
The team relied heavily on Kylee Wilder, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Maggy Bennett was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
Etowah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
St. Clair County's record now sits at 17-14-1. As for Etowah, their record is now 22-12.
St. Clair County might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Etowah in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Fighting Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
