The Mercer Mustangs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Redbank Valley Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Mercer scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. They breezed by Commodore Perry on the road to the tune of 81-45. Considering Mercer has won four matchups by more than 35 points this season, last Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Redbank Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ellwood City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (64), Redbank Valley still had to take the loss.
Mercer pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Redbank Valley, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1.
Mercer skirted past Redbank Valley 48-46 when the teams last played back in December of 2017. Will Mercer repeat their success, or does Redbank Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
