Foothill is 10-0 against Red Bluff since September of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Foothill Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Red Bluff Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Foothill suffered a tough 36-13 defeat at the hands of Pleasant Valley. Foothill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Red Bluff had to settle for a 17-14 loss against Shasta on Friday. Red Bluff has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jose (chacho) Chavez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Chavez has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played.
Foothill's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Pleasant Valley, Chico, and Shasta. As for Red Bluff, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Foothill against Red Bluff in their previous meeting back in October as the team secured a 34-6 win. Will Foothill repeat their success, or does Red Bluff have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
