Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Maplesville Red Devils walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 41-14 win over Choctaw County at home. The result was nothing new for Maplesville, who have now won seven contests by 26 points or more so far this season.
Leading Maplesville to victory were Bradlee Padgett and Nehemiah Mccary. Padgett rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Mccary rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.
When it comes to explaining why Choctaw County lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Trey Smith. Despite the final result, he picked up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Maplesville pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Billingsley and 2-7 Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.8% over those games). As for Choctaw County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Maplesville will take on Sweet Water at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Sweet Water is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. Choctaw County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
