Basketball Recap: Discovery Takes a Loss

Discovery lost against Ridgeview Global Studies Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Discovery Spartans took a 35-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ridgeview Global Studies Academy Explorers. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Discovery lost, don't look at Ralana Spence. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave Spence a new career-high in points.

Ridgeview Global Studies Academy found their leader in freshman Stephanie Morales, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsse Jean-Giles, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Discovery's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Discovery wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-23 victory against Legacy Charter on the 16th. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-36 defeat against Celebration on the 16th.
