On Thursday, Sierra Linda had to suffer through a rough 72-19 loss at the hands of Sahuaro. While losing is never fun, Sierra Linda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Sahuaro is ranked 11th).
Sahuaro had a senior duo take command as Kristen Valdez scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Cassandra Coolidge scored 18 points along with three steals. The contest was Coolidge's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ny'Anza Brown, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Sierra Linda and nudges their season record down to 2-9. As for Sahuaro, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Sierra Linda is on the road again on Thursday and play against Estrella Foothills at 8:00 p.m. on December 14th. The timing is sure in Estrella Foothills' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Sierra Linda has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. As for Sahuaro, they will square off against Goldwater at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
