The Goshen RedHawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mishawaka. While losing is never fun, Goshen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Mishawaka is ranked 82nd).
Despite the loss, Goshen saw an underclassman step up: Levi Sawatzky scored 29 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sawatzky has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andre Williams, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Goshen struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Goshen's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Mishawaka, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Goshen won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Penn at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for Mishawaka, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against South Bend Clay at 7:30 p.m.
