Byrd snuck past Logan with a 53-48 victory on Saturday. This was payback for Robert C. Byrd, who suffered a 41-37 loss the last time these two teams met.
Robert C. Byrd had a senior duo take command as Martina Howe scored 23 points along with three steals and Carleigh Curotz scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Howe has scored at least a third of Robert C. Byrd's points. Kyla Sutherlin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Robert C. Byrd has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Logan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robert C. Byrd will challenge East Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in East Fairmont's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Logan, they will head out on the road to face off against WestSide at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. WestSide will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Logan surely won't give up without a fight.
