The Moss Point Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bay Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bay took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Moss Point, who comes in off a win.
Moss Point posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past Poplarville 47-20 on the road. The team ran away with 40 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Moss Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alejandro Montalvo led the charge by scoring 11 points along with three steals. Montalvo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quey'sean Taylor, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bay's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Pass Christian 56-17. While losing is never fun, Bay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Pass Christian is ranked 64th).
Moss Point's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Bay, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.
Moss Point strolled past Bay when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 38-23. Will Moss Point repeat their success, or does Bay have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
